Film Talks
We visit amateur filmmakers at the very places where their films were created: in home cinemas, on balconies, in tailoring workshops, or former cow sheds. These visits are documented by filmmaker Sara Piñeros Cortés.
Experts from various disciplines engage in conversations with amateur filmmakers and their companions in the recording studio of sisigrant. They talk about filmmaking, what actually happens in a film laboratory, or where a hidden film collection was discovered.
These conversations are complemented by video essays, including a close reading of an amateur film from 1938, in which historian Michaela Scharf attributes special significance to a mere nine-second film sequence.
The result is a polyphonic collection of film conversations that shed light on historical contexts, document film biographies, and tell of a lived filmmaking practice.
